Hinsdale Falcon Cheerleading is a 100% volunteer organization that provides kids in Grades 2-8 an opportunity to learn fundamental cheerleading skills, tumbling, and stunting with an emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, and safety. Squads are formed by grade level, each led by volunteer parent coaches and teen coaches.
Time Commitment
Squads will perform nearly every weekend (Saturdays and/or Sundays, home and away) for the Hinsdale Falcon Football teams; the regular season generally runs 8-9 weeks, beginning at the end of August through the end of October. Should our football teams reach playoffs, we will cheer them on at those games as well, which may continue into November. In addition, all squads perform at the program’s main fundraiser, Falcon Fest (if applicable), and most compete in 1-3 weekend competitions, which may culminate at the IRCA State Competition in December.
Summer practices may be up to 4 days a week beginning mid-August (times/dates/locations to be determined by the coaches). Fall practices will be twice weekly evenings at Westmont Yard once school begins. Should any squad qualify for IRCA State Competition, practices will continue through that date, usually early December. Actual game and competition dates will be shared by parent coaches at the beginning of the season (late August) when all becomes confirmed and solidified.
Falcons Cheerleaders cannot participate during the season on any other competition squad (example, but not limited to, All Stars/clubs); the exception is an elementary/middle school squad.
Attendance Policy
Being a Falcon Cheerleader takes a serious time commitment, not only to enhance the performances and overall enjoyment of the squad, but most importantly, to better ensure the safety of the participants. Participation is required at ALL practices, games, performances, and competitions. Two excused absences are allowed throughout the entire season. Before registering, please recognize the attendance policy; attendance rules are strictly enforced. See the separate Attendance Policy. Despite the time commitment throughout the season, it is well worth the effort!
Registration Information
Registration is through our website at www.hinsdalefalcons.com. Registration is open to kids entering Grades 2-8 in the upcoming fall season. There may be limited openings, particularly in grades 5-8, and registration may close due to a squad reaching a maximum number of participants at any grade level. Because teams are limited in size, registration priority may be given to returning Falcons cheerleaders.
Fees include a uniform rental (to be returned at the end of each season), practices, game performances, special events, and competitions (except IRCA State, when applicable). Other mandatory items are required for purchase.
Role as Feeder Program for Hinsdale Central High School
Hinsdale Falcons is a community-based feeder program to Hinsdale Central High School. Thus, priority registration is given to those within HCHS boundaries. Once community registrations have been completed, we will seek to accommodate those outside our community.
